According to Maui County officials, one of four hikers slipped and fell about 50 feet from a trail and died from his injuries.

This happened just before noon Saturday on the Waihou Spring Trail in the forest reserve, west of Haleakala.

The victim is a 60-year-old man visiting from Colorado.  Fire crews had to hike the victim out. 

Investigation of the incident has been handed to police.
