More than a thousand people rallied at the state capitol today- to support early childhood education. NATS 18.09 SINGING Governor Neil Abercrombie was also there to show his support. Under a new rule that goes into effect this year children.... must be 5 years old by July 31st to go to kindergarten. That means about 5 thousand children in Hawaii will not be old enough to attend kindergarten. 20.50 I'M HERE BECAUSE I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT MY KIDS START SCHOOL AND HAVE THE SOCIAL SKILL THEY NEED AND DEVELOPMENTAL SKILL THAT ARE GIVEN IN SCHOOL. A bill supporting early education has already passed the senate and would appropriate money for early education. It's in a house education committee. That bill should be heard by the committee Friday or Monday.
