Girl, 14, crashes van into pole; causes power outage

More than 2,000 customers without power in Waianae

WAIANAE, Hawaii -

Two girls were taken to a hospital in serious condition after crashing a minivan into a utility pole, according to police.

This happened at 5 a.m. Sunday on Waianae Valley Road.  The van was driven by a 14-year-old girl.

The damage to the pole caused a power outage to over 2,000 customers in the area.

Hawaiian Electric crews have been working on repairs all day.  Power was restored by 4 p.m. Sunday.
