A funeral service has been set for Abraham Akau, a popular Kaa'awa pastor killed July 21 in an all-terrain vehicle crash.
Akau had been volunteering at Kualoa Ranch, when he crossed Kamehameha Highway and struck a car. The 81-year-old was thrown from the A.T.V., and died at a local hospital.
His funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 16 at Borthwick Mortuary. A second service has been planned for Kualoa Ranch on Friday, August 17 at 10 a.m.
Akau had been a long-time Kualoa Ranch employee, but had retired. He often volunteered at the Ranch. In 1999, he was inducted into the Paniolo Hall of Fame.
Akau also served as Senior Pastor for "His Highest Praise" Church in Kaa'awa.
