Former police officer sentenced on marijuana charges
Chu received 8 months in prison, 2 years supervised release

Former Honolulu police officer Michael Steven Chu was sentenced Friday morning in U.S. District Court for cultivating and possessing marijuana with intent to distrubte.
Chu received eight months in prison and two years supervised release after he serves his time behind bars.
The former officer must turn himself in to authorities on Feb. 13.
Chu's girlfriend, Athena Sui Lee, is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 11. Both of them pleaded guilty to the charges.
Forty-eight marijuana plants and 49 pounds of marijuana were found in raids on the couple's Honolulu apartment and Chu's Mililani Mauka home in April of 2012.
