Flood advisory in effect for Maui

HONOLULU -

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui until 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

At 10:48 p.m. Saturday, radar showed moderate-to-heavy rain over the slopes from Nahiku to Nuu. This area of rain was nearly stationary.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kipahulu, Hana and Hamoa.

Forecasters said people in the advisory area should stay away from flood-prone areas and to use extra caution while driving.
