Fireworks galore at Kakaako Waterfront Park for New Year's Eve
Celebration is underway in Kakaako.
Fireworks started early at Kakaako Waterfront Park for The Party Of The Year. Fireworks went off at 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m., and midnight.
Hundreds of parents with kids are glad the first set of light shows went off at 9 p.m..
One mother said if it was at midnight, only her 6-month-old baby might have missed her first fireworks show.
"It's nice that they are going off earlier so we can see them, so we can be home on time," said mother Megan Phan.
"I love it out here. I'm with the in-laws, got the kids out, going to have a good time tonight," said father Christopher Ching.
There was a lot to do and eat with more than 30 food trucks, a colorful LED Ferris wheel, and five different sets of music; a party for all generations.
"Now that you can't blow fireworks at home, let's bring it to a place where you can bring your whole ohana," said promoter Rick Rock.
Although the main attraction are the fireworks, New Year's Eve party-goers have something else in the back of their minds: New Year's resolutions.
"I want to have a better marriage, and I also want to get closer to God," said Damian Fowler.
"I'm going to finish my last 25 pounds on Weight Watchers. That's my goal," said Meredith Miller.
Resolutions aside, those at the park on Monday said there's still the night left to party.
