Leeward Oahu firefighters were busy Sunday afternoon with two separate brush fires along the Waianae mountain range.
Shortly after firefighters contained a brush fire in Kunia, a second brush fire ignited on the other side of the Waianae range in Ma'ili.
The first fire ignited just before noon near Kunia Road across the street from the Hawaii Country Club.
Smoke was seen from miles away with the fire burning along the east face of the Waianae mountain range.
The fire did not affect operations at the country club, but did threaten several small farm plots, including a pig farm.
No injuries were reported. That fire is believed to have scorched around 5 acres.
Shortly after that fire was contained, a second brush fire on the opposite side of the Waianae Mountains ignited.
That fire broke out near the Ma'ili Kai Community Park off Kaukama Road around 2:30 p.m.
Firefighters were continuing to battle that blaze as the afternoon progressed.
No word on if homes in that neighborhood were immediately threatened by the fire, but crews did respond to an encroaching fire along Pakeke Street.
