A fire destroyed a unit in a low rise apartment complex on Church Lane just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Emergency officials say the man who lived inside was taken to the hospital with burns.

A neighbor had to kick in the door while another rushed inside to rescue him from the burning building.

No word yet on what sparked the blaze.
