Honolulu Fire crews are investigating the exact cause of a fire that broke out at an Aiea apartment complex Saturday night.

Fire officials said the call for the 2-alarm fire came in around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night at the Wailuna Apartment Complex on Kaahumanu Street.

Upon arrival fire crews found flames and smoke coming from the garage area and dining room of the unit.

The homeowner said a friend had just parked a car in the garage and shortly after they noticed flames coming form the vehicle.

The two adults home at the time were able to get out safely, but a pet cat did not.  Damage is estimated at $200,000.
