"It's a big thing for us, I think people who went in there yesterday, their heart sank," said Al Carganilla, principal of Farrington High School.

The principal said the auditorium at Farrington High School is the center of the community.

"We do know that no one can go in there and it's very dangerous. There are still things hanging from the roof and it's unsafe," said Ronald Oyama, vice principal Ronald Oyama.

This happened in the middle of the high schools 10 year renovation plan.

"The auditorium was a part of it, but it was more repair and maintenance kind of issues, it wasn't redesigning or refurbishing it," said Carganilla.

The roof was checked as a part of the new plan.

"When they went in there a couple weeks ago on the top of the roof they just did visual checks but they didn't do a structural assessment of it," said Carganilla.

He said visually the roof looked to be in good shape, but it didn't make it through Friday's storm.

"Combination of things as far as the wear and tear of the building as well as the small short storm that came with the amount of water that was dumped in the area," said Carganilla.

The auditorium is used every day. New Hope Christian Fellowship has about 6000 people who attend the services on the weekend.
