The family of 38-year-old Lany Salva was on Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe Friday afternoon sign waving warning drivers to slow down and stop for pedestrians.
Salva was killed Tuesday night on Kamehameha Highway near Pahia Road when a vehicle hit her and left the scene without helping her.
The sign wavers were in the same area where the hit-and-run took place. Police are looking for a light-colored SUV driven by a female.
Residents and business owners in the area say there have been several close calls and are in favor of a traffic light or signs to get drivers to slow down.
A fund is being started to help the family with expenses.
