child was killed -- run over by a car. Good evening, I'm Kenny Choi. And I'm Yunji de Nies.. It happened on a private road off Kapiolani Blvd. in Moiliili. KITV4's Brenton Awa has our top story. Yunji -- It happened this morning when a woman was taking her daughter to school. Police say she was backing out of her driveway -- and when she pulled forward -- she didn't see the child on the side-walk -- and ran him over. Filimone Asi was just two years old... His favorite past-time -- watching power rangers on his moms phone. His sister will miss watching it with him. 148 - 154 - SIS "I ALWAYS USED TO WATCH HIM, NOW I DON'T HAVE TO ANYMORE BUT I'M GOING TO MISS HIM." To his family -- he was known as "fat boy." He lived here with his older brother and three sisters -- who were in school this morning. His mother and father -- too devastated to talk. But other family members will remember Filimone as the light of their life. 553 - AUNTY "EVERY MORNING HE WAS UP CALLING MY SON TO COME PLAY OR SAY HI TO EVERYBODY THAT COMES BY OUR NEIGHBORHOOD." 505 - 515 CUZ "WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR HIM TO COME OUT AND START MAKING NOISE OR ARGUING WITH HIS SIBLINGS OR WANTING US TO LEAVE HIS HOUSE BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SPEND TIME WITH HIS MOMMY." Part of that time was spent on religion -- going to the First United Methodist Church of Honolulu Filimone's family has lived at their home for over 10-years The know nothing can replace the loss of their loved- one -- but they hope this event will send a message to others. 320 - 334 - CUZ "JUST WANT TO LET PEOPLE KNOW TO BE MORE AWARE OF THE THINGS THEY DO OR WHEN THEYRE BACKING UP YOU KNOW THERES CHILDREN AROUND, YOU MAY NEVER KNOW WHAT MAY HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE SECONDS OR SO." The family believes the neighbor who ran over Filimone is frightened. They have a message for her as well. 641 - AUNT "WE JUST WANT HER TO KNOW THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO BLAME, WE ALL KNOW, WE'RE PARENTS HERE. 655 - AUNT "WE'RE JUST HERE BECAUSE WE LOST ONE OF OUR CHILDREN, WE MISS HIM DEARLY." Police have opened a negligent homicide investigation. They'll look into why the woman didn't see Filimone on the sidewalk and will determine if there was any recklessness on the part of the driver.
