It was almost one year ago exactly, when a man tried to steal Yano's truck right in front of his McCully home with his 9-year-old daughter still inside.
His son jumped in and helped his Dad stop the suspect, saving his sister.
To try to explain the irony is impossible.
"It affects my son and daughter again that something has been taken and my wife even says, ‘You know, I’m tired of things being taken from us during this time,'" said Yano.
Yano said it's his kids who are taking Macho's disappearance especially hard.
"He was so much fun. He would always jump on his two legs and I would hold his paws and we would dance around," said Jonah Yano, 12. "I hope somebody will return Macho because he was my best friend."
Fliers are up around town and Yano checks Craigslist regularly with the hopes he'll somehow find Macho.
A reward is being offered for Macho's return.
