KITV4's Brenton Awa is standing by with new video JUST IN to KITV... Paula.. It's one of the hazards of wearing a badge.. But luckily for officers, it's a rare one! Even more uncommon... Today it's an elderly man who's accused of firing that shot at police. MUG According to officers.. 83- year-old Robert Wayne Yownt barricaded himself inside his Kalaheo house this morning when two officers showed up to serve him with a grand jury warrant. Police say he fired one shot in the direction of one of the officers. :13 TODAY SCENE This is as close as our camera could get to Yownt's home on Palama Street. None of the officers were hit and they were able to detain Yownt. Police say -- he's still in custody. :22 CRASH SCENE The 83-year-old was originally booked on second-degree negligent homicide back in March after police say the car he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian. Jill Garnett was walking on the side of Kaumualii highway in Puhi when she was hit. :37 Back to today's incident -- Yownt was arrested for first degree attempted murder for firing a shot at police. We're told there were no other shots fired and no injuries reported.
