latest state to make it EASIER for undocumented immigrants to get drivers licenses. A senate bill favoring immigrants is now in play in the state senate. By some estimates there are 30,000 undocumented immigrants in Hawaii-- some of whom are driving illegally-- who could be affected. Advocates say in Arizona the move helped reduce the number of uninsured motorists on the road and could do the same here. The bill was introduced by Senators Will Espero and Kalani English who admit the bill faces some hurdles as hawaii is one of the states that has embraced the federal ID act which requires more documents. They hope language can be crafted to overcome the concerns. A similar bill was introduced in the house.
