Pali Truck Crash
Luck was on the side of a driver on the Pali Highway Saturday afternoon after a truck flipped over a rock wall landing on its side.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on the Kailua-bound side of the highway just north of the last town traffic light on Nuuanu Pali Drive.
The silver Nissan Frontier pickup apparently sped off the road, up a grass embankment and flipped over a roughly six-foot-tall rock wall before landing between the wall and a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The wall borders the Toho No Hikari temple, on which most of the truck landed following the crash.
The driver was taken to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. No further information about the driver was available.
Police and firefighters closed the right lane of the Kailua-bound side for a matter of minutes while the driver was transferred to the care of Emergency Medical personnel.
No other vehicles were involved.
