The Honolulu Fire Department says the King Kalakaua Building in Downtown Honolulu, which houses the U.S. Post Office at the corner of Richards Street and Merchant Street, was evacuated Wednesday due to an odor of gas.
The first call came just after 10:30 a.m. The Gas Company says it does not supply gas to that building.
Fire officials investigated at the scene and couldn't find a problem.
Richards Street near Merchant Street was closed during the investigation. The sidewalk at Richards Street and Merchant Street was also taped off.
Just after 11:30 a.m., people were allowed back in the building.
