A 200-pound Vietnamese pot-bellied pig is recovering after being brutally attacked by pig hunting dogs in May.

Her family has turned to total strangers for help.

Arna Johnson was working inside her Kahaluu home one evening in May when the silence was shattered.

"All of a sudden just out of the blue, we heard this blood-curdling scream," said Johnson.  "We heard it was Pua so we ran outside, ran here to the lanai, looked down.  There was a dog attacking at her neck and there was a dog attacking her from her rear."

Johnson pulled off the dogs, tied them up, then turned to her pet pig who was ripped open.

Veterinarian Eric Pearson performed surgery right on the lanai -- it took 100 stitches to close up the wounds.

Three months later, Dr. Pearson arrives to give Pua a shot of antibiotics.

Pua will need several more shots.  Veterinarian bills will easily reach $6,000.  The hunter who owned the dogs isn't helping.

"He said he would pay for the vet bill, but since has declined so we decided to take the matter into our own hands and fundraise," said Johnson.

They turned to an online fundraising website called GoFundMe.com and they started receiving donations right away from all over the world.
