A diver was found unresponsive Friday on the bottom of the ocean floor about 20 yards offshore of Moku Ola, also known as Coconut Island, in Hilo Bay, according to Big Island fire officials.

Fire crews responded just before 11:30 a.m.

The man was brought to shore by bystanders.  Emergency medical personnel attempted to resuscitate the man while transporting him to Hilo Medical Center.

No word on the man's condition after he went to the hospital.
