A wall of rocks and debris comes crashing down onto Diamond Head road that's usually busy with cars, runners and bikers. The road is back open after officials had to shut it down for hours to clear the mess. KITV4's Nana Ohkawa is live with the latest... Nana? ad lib luckily no one was hurt. Trees and telephone wire --when mounds of dirt fell yesterday afternoon onto Diamond Head road. Usually when a rock slide happens---it occurs during a rainstorm. But this one was mounds of dry dirt... Roughly 50 feet of a retaining wall that wraps around a property. A nearby resident says he was at Makalei Beach Park across the street when he heard a loud noise... Thought it was just a wall caving in but started seeing the wall just come down like an avalanche... 1157 - CRAIG "IT JUST STARTED SLOW MOTION AND THEN IT PICKED UP REAL QUICK AND THEN IT JUST ENDED AS FAST AS IT STARTED." Police had to shutdown both lanes of the street-- for about four hours.. There was a safety scare for city crew members when while they were cleaning.. Another portion of the wall collapsed. Now it's the home owners responsibility to shore up the wall and make sure it's safe. Something.. A city official says is essential to do right way so that no one gets hurt.
