Crash near Schofield Barracks kills 38-year-old man

WAHIAWA, Hawaii -

A city Emergency Services Department spokeswoman says a 38-year-old man is dead after a crash in front of Foote Gate at Schofield Barracks Tuesday morning.

A man in his late 20s and a woman in her late 50s were hospitalized in serious to stable condition and were taken to a local trauma center.

The crash happened at around 7:15 a.m.

Emergency Services officials say it appears to have been a two-car collision.  The rear of one of the vehicles appears to have been sheared off.

Honolulu police closed the southbound lanes of Kunia Road and the eastbound lanes of Wilikina Drive in the area due to the investigation.
