Hawaii County Civil Defense says that Highway 11 has been closed in both directions at the 22-mile marker in Mountain View Thursday evening.
Witnesses say it appears a van and a station wagon collided in front of the Hirano Store in Glenwood. A witness also says there is a body under a white sheet.
The announcement was made just before 5:30 p.m.
