Copper thieves have put a damper on some activities held at Kalihi Valley District Park.
The city parks director said copper wiring was stolen sometime Wednesday night and knocked out power to the baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts and the pool.
These facilities will remain closed each night until electrical repairs can be made.
City officials said the theft will cost at least $2,000 to repair the damage. Repairs are set to begin Monday. Electricians were on the scene Friday to inspect the damage.
If there are no problems, it should take three days to finish the repairs.
The city parks director said getting the pool pump working again is the priority so that children enrolled in Summer Fun can get back into the water.
There are about three weeks left in the Summer Fun program at the park with more than 175 children.
There was a similar copper theft about a month and a half ago at Moiliili Field. Repairs at that location have not yet been made.
If you saw anything suspicious at the park, you're asked to call police.
