KANEOHE, Hawaii -

A man working for the Hawaiian Electric Company slipped at a project in the mountains above Temple Valley in Windward Oahu Tuesday morning, according to a HECO spokesperson.

The man rolled about 200 feet down the steep slope of the Koolau Mountains just after 10 a.m. and came to rest on a steep hillside unable to get out.

The only way for rescuers to reach him was by helicopter.

The man is part of a contracted crew working on improvements to support structures that carry transmission lines which bring power over the mountains.

The man has an injury to his right knee.  His knee is in a splint and his injury is not life-threatening.
