Army: Kapolei man injured from cinder block wall collapse

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, HAWAII -

A 20-year-old construction worker from Kapolei died Monday from injuries in an accident at Schofield Barracks, according to the Army and Army contractor Nan.

The medical examiner's office identified the man as Alexander Tagaloa.

Emergency officials responded just after 1:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a construction worker injured during a cinder block wall collapse at a construction site on the Army base.

Tagaloa was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital where he died at 2:13 p.m.

The Army extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.  Army contractor Nan also released a statement saying, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Foote Avenue and Heard Street where Nan Inc. was conducting barracks renovation of Quad D.

Military officials are investigating the incident.  Nan says it is also conducting its own internal investigation.
