The Coast Guard was looking for a plane which may have crash-landed into the water north of Maui.
The privately owned single engine Cessna airplane disappeared from radar while flying from Maui to Molokai Saturday night.
The Coast Guard is using a helicopter, an airplane and a cutter to search for the plane.
It is not known if anyone other than the pilot was on board the Cessna 172-S four-seat plane.
