The collision took out a support beam and an entire corner of the home. Honolulu fire rescue crews had to stabilize the house to prevent the section hit by the car from collapsing.
"What we are doing now is we are shoring up that end until he can get a carpenter to come in or a mason to come to hold up that column and hold beam," said Capt. Hew.
The family says they'll cover the gaping hole until carpenters arrive.
But, until then, Mead's mother will have to sleep in the living room recovering from the shock of the eventful morning.
