KANEOHE, Hawaii -

A 19-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition after she apparently crashed a car at a Kaneohe home Thursday morning, according to Emergency Medical Services officials.

Paramedics were called to Kaneohe Bay Drive at around 10:10 am.

Witnesses say the car first struck a guard rail then crossed the road, knocked over a small wall and came to a stop against the house.

"Sam Makainai lives near the home and ran out to see what the commotion was about.

"It took walls, the trees, engine block inside the house," said Makainai.  "Then, she tried to, I guess, take off.  She was probably dazed."

Makainai held the woman until paramedics arrived.

The impact of the car sent a hollow tile block through the picture glass window.  No one else was reported to be injured.

The family living at the house says that stretch of Kaneohe Bay Drive can be dangerous with a lot of speeding.
