The Blue Angels, the Navy's precision flying team, put on a special show Friday for military families and school children.

It was Day One of the air show at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.

Ten-year-old Xander with Make a Wish foundation said, "I got up this morning and was like 'yay, I get to see the Blue Angels!"

Kids from the Make Wish Foundation, a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, have had some tough days.

One of these is thirteen year old, "I was diagnosed with a germinoma cancer in my pituitary gland."

But Reece's eyes are glued to the sky. He's excited by the tight formations, the smoke, and the speed of the supersonic jets.

Camilla Crescenzo with Make A Wish says, "There are some kids that had treatments this week and are right up on them...We have one child that's going to be flown to California for treatment, so this is a really special day."

She also says, "It's really special to see all these kids have that little sparkle back in their eyes and just have fun together."

The Blue Angels were not the only sight to behold. There was Fat Albert, a C-130 support plane, and stunt pilots to wow the crowd.

The air show is open to the public tomorrow and on Sunday. Gates to the Marine base open at 9 a.m. The air show starts at 11 a.m. with the Blue Angels performing around 2-3 p.m. depending on weather conditions.
