Big Island police still searching for prison escapee

Big Island police are still searching for one of two prison escapees who has been on the lam since Wednesday. 

Ryan Jeffries-Hamar, 31, is still on the loose and is considered dangerous.

The two inmates overpowered a prison guard and threatened the librarian for her keys while escaping on Wednesday, officials said.

Authorities captured the other convict, 35-year-old Jarvis Higa, late Friday night.  On Saturday, police charged Higa with breaking out of prison, kidnapping and robbery.

He's being held at the East Hawaii Detention Facility at the Hilo Police Station.  Higa is scheduled to make an initial appearance on Monday.
