Big Island police, public victims of April Fools' prank

Local radio station falsely reported lava flow closed Saddle Road

Big Island police say the Hawai'i Police Department received 911 calls Monday morning in response to an April Fools' joke.

A local radio station falsely reported on its website that Saddle Road was closed at the 28-mile marker due to a lava flow.

The false report was an April Fool’s Day prank.  Saddle Road is open and there is no lava flow anywhere near that area.
