A joint task force has captured Jarvis Higa, 35, in Ocean View after escaping from prison Wednesday.

Higa was captured while attempting to flee a residence on foot. Higa was arrested for multiple charges, including escaping from the Hawaii County Correctional Center.

Higa was transported to the Hilo police station for processing.

The joint task force was made up of officers from both Hilo and Kona. Officers were assisted by state sheriffs along with Kau police.

Escapee Ryan Jeffries-Hamar remains at large.
