Barricade situation in Kalihi ends

HONOLULU -

Honolulu police reopened a Kalihi road early Monday morning after a barricade situation that lasted nearly four hours Sunday night.

HPD said the emergency call came in around 8 p.m. at a home between Kaumualii Street and Eluwene Street for a distraught man.

The SWAT team arrived and surrounded the area for nearly four hours.

Officers were finally able to take the suspect into custody at around 11:40 p.m.  Police say no one was hurt.  The man barricaded himself inside the home alone.

Officers remained on the scene and completed their investigation just before 3 a.m. this morning.
