It's something that's sure to get you in the mood for Christmas. Ballet Hawaii's Nutcracker opens tomorrow night at the Blaisdell Concert Hall, it's the first of 3 performances this season. Our Moanike'ala Nabarro takes us inside rehearsals---whe re we meet the production's young prince and his darling ballerina. This stage will not sit quietly much longer... The timeless tale of The Nutcracker and The Mouse King comes to life. NAT SOT MUSIC WITH DANCING 185 dancers will perform, but only one will play little Marie, the girl who gets a wooden Nutcracker for Christmas. The part is a young ballerina's dream. 13 year old Allison Johnston recently found out... The 2 act performance features a mix of Ballet Hawaii ballerinas and professional dancers from outside the islands. Lillian Vigo Ellis and Andrew Viet flew in from the East Coast to play the Snow King and Queen. We caught the Nutcracker Prince rehearsing too. 16 year old Jacob Ly's played the role for the past 6 years. He's been dancing ballet since the age of 4 and loves every minute. 8:43-8:55 Jacob Ly ITS SOMETHING REWARDING IN A SENSE WHEN YOU HAVE TO WORK TOWARD SOMETHING..BUT WHEN YOU FINALLY GET IT YOU FEEL GREAT. ITS LIKE WHEN YOU HIT SOMETHING YOU JUST HAVE THAT FELING OF YAH! I GOT IT FINALLY And as the story goes ...the prince and Marie glide away on their sleigh....of course practice makes perfect before tomorrow night's curtain call!
