The Board of Water Supply is responding to a 24-inch water main break near 84-834 Farrington Highway in the Makaha area Thursday.
The Board of Water Supply is asking all Leeward Coast residents from Honokai Hale to Makaha to please use water sparingly and for priority needs only as crews work to repair the main and restore the water system.
Water should be used for cooking, drinking, and personal hygiene only. Residents should refrain from doing laundry, watering lawns, or washing cars at this time.
No customers are without water.
The main break has forced the closure of the makai lane on Farrington Highway between Water Street and Jade Street. The mauka lane on Farrington Highway is being contraflowed for Waianae-bound traffic. Makaha-bound traffic is being detoured onto Jade Street and can return to Farrington Highway via Water Street. Motorists should expect delays. Detour signs and special duty police officers are on scene to alert motorists of these traffic patterns, which will remain in effect for the duration of the repair.
Repair work is expected to continue into the evening.
