counts of attempted murder as he recovers in the hospital. This incident involved numerous crime scenes in Aiea and also locked down an elementary school this afternoon. KITV 4's Paul Drewes has the latest in tonight's top story. standup@43:15 "according to police, this incident started here on heleconia Place, where officers attempted to arrest the suspect, but he took off on a stolen motorcycle toward the school." show motorcycle shot 38:30 "fled from the officers, lost control and crashed. He then fled on foot" show school stuff the principal of Alvah Scott Elementary saw police chased the suspect onto campus. 1:29:15-:20 "about 4 oclock we saw the police cars come on campus, so we know to go to our lockdown drill" 1:29:25-:30 "thankfully it was afterschool, so the majority of students had gone home, but we do have quite a bit of A+ children, so we had to make sure they were safe" show brown home The suspect, a 35 year old man wanted for a nearby burglary, then hopped the fence and ended up in this home, located along Moanalua Road. maj@34:31-34:36 "he broke into the residence of a 68 year old male, assaulted him and barricaded himself inside the residence" The suspect reportedly took the resident's key and tried to steal his white pickup truck. But officers were waiting outside. 34:44 "officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, at which time he reversed striking two officers. At that time multiple officers fired on the suspect striking him multiple times." shorter version@38:50 You can see the bullet holes on the side of the truck, along with blood streaked on the driver's side door. The man was taken by EMS to the hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds. The 68 year old resident suffered an injury to his head from the assault. While the two officers hit by the suspect were treated for their injuries at this crime scene. As investigators document exactly what happened and how many shots were fired, the four officers involved in this shooting have been placed on leave. Reporting from Aiea, Paul Drewes KITV 4 news.
