5th Hawaii inmate commits suicide in 2013
Kim, 48, was facing murder charges in Kailua stabbing
The man who was about to go on trial for a deadly stabbing in Kailua in July was found dead in his cell at the Oahu Community Correctional Center on Tuesday.
Brian Kim, 48, was the fifth inmate to commit suicide in a Hawaii prison this year, according to public safety officials.
Kim was facing second-degree murder charges for the death of 58-year-old Robert Coleman Jr. on July 12 at Kailua District Park.
Trial was set to begin on Oct. 7.
