A second Halawa prison guard has been arrested for his part in allegedly smuggling crystal methamphetamine into the facility.
Honolulu FBI agents arrested 45-year-old Mark Damas on Sunday, who was later charged with conspiracy to distribute as well as possession with the intent to distribute ice.
Just two weeks ago, Halawa officer James "Kimo" Sanders, 31, was indicted for smuggling meth into the prison. His trial has been set for Mach.
Authorities say the cases are separate the no conspiracy has been alleged between the two prison guards.
Department of Public Safety Director Ted Sakai issued a statement saying, "This latest arrest represents the efforts to weed out corrupt employees in our prisons and to bring individuals who commit these crimes to justice, ensuring safety in our prisons and the public."
