Maui fire officials said a vehicle with two men in it went over a cliff off Kahekili Highway at around the 10-mile marker Tuesday morning.
One man is from Belton, S.C. and the other man is from Lafayette, Calif. The South Carolina man is in his 20s and the California man is in his 30s.
The man from South Carolina said the vehicle went over the cliff at around 2:30 a.m. He left his friend in the car and started hiking out.
It took about an hour to hike up the 100-foot cliff.
A local resident found the South Carolina man on the side of the road at around 5:30 a.m. They both found the area where the vehicle went over.
Fire crews airlifted the California man from the vehicle. Both men had bruises and scratches, but both were able to walk and talk.
