KIHEI, Hawaiii -

Maui County police say two men were arrested Thursday after a vehicle window smashing incident in Kihei.

21-year-old Bronson Foster of Kihei and 31-year-old Namon Parks of Waianae were arrested for first-degree terroristic threatening.  Foster was also arrested for criminal property damage.

Investigators say Foster was seen on Waipuilani Road in Kihei using a bat to smash the windows of a Toyota 4 Runner.  A 49-year-old woman approached Foster and Parks as they got into a black sedan.  Parks brandished a handgun and pointed it at the woman's head.  The woman is the mother of the 21-year-old owner of the sports utility vehicle.

Foster and Parks abandoned the vehicle on Kaphuhau Street, according to police.  Witnesses saw the two men run from the vehicle and throw the handgun in the brush.

Both suspects were taken into custody at the Maui Schooner Resort, a short distance from the scene.

The incident appears to have stemmed from a physical confrontation on Oct. 31 between the woman's 21-year-old son and a 19-year-old friend of Foster and Parks at a Kihei bar.

Both men were charged.  Foster was held on $1,200 bail.  Bail for Parks was set at $1,000.  Both men were released after posting bail.
