Two people were injured after a helicopter crashed near Kona International Airport, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
A two-seat Robinson R-22 helicopter departed from Kona International Airport with two people on board for an instructional flight.
At around 3:30 p.m., the chopper crashed under unknown circumstances approximately 10 miles northeast of the airport in Kona.
Local authorities are reporting that both people on board were injured, but the extent is unknown at this time, according to Gregor.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
