Police say speed and alcohol were factors in fatal Ewa crash
Honolulu police say one person is dead and three others were in critical condition after a multiple vehicle crash in Ewa Beach Tuesday afternoon.
Police say Kaimalie Street was closed between Fort Weaver Road and Kaipu Street. The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m.
Investigators say they believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
Police say a GMC Envoy that was traveling on Kaimalie Street crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Porsche sports utility vehicle. The Envoy then struck a parked van and a pole.
A traffic detective at the scene said three teenagers, two boys and 1 girl, were in the Envoy. A 14-year-old girl in the Envoy died, according to police. A woman in her 40s was driving the SUV.
Earlier, Emergency Medical Services officials said the 14-year-old girl was hospitalized in extremely critical condition, a 16-year-old boy was in critical condition, with a A 14-year-old boy and a 41-year-old woman were both in serious condition.
