Film 'Blue Hawaii' turns 50
The film that helped bring Hawaii to millions of people around the world is celebrating its golden anniversary.
Fifty years ago, Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii" became the first major motion picture to showcase Kauai.
Nearly 600 people celebrated the film's golden anniversary Saturday night at the Kauai Marriott Resort.
The two flower girls who helped lead the way for Elvis and his bride were also in attendance.
The movie was shot at the Coco Palms Resort, which has been shut down since it sustained damage during Hurricane Iniki.
Developers are reportedly in talks to rebuild the hotel, however, no details have been released.
