Volunteers who recently helped in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Iselle are calling on others in the community to step up.
“It’s the best thing good for the soul. Nothing more satisfying than seeing clients crying, smile, tear, thank you and getting hug and feeling like you’ve made a difference,” said Renise Bayne, a volunteer.
The organization has about 1,500 volunteers across the state. The majority of the 200 workers helping with Iselle response were volunteers.
Those interested in volunteering will be asked to take a basic disaster class for free.
