It was the 116th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippines Independence day on Thursday.

Consulate officials raised the Philippines national flag at the consulate in Honolulu.
The ceremony included a re-enactment of the historic day.
Speakers say efforts are still underway to fight poverty within the country and to keep the resilient Filipino spirit alive.
"Our fight is no longer battling war, but it's about fighting poverty, providing education, economics, investing and our country and all of that," said Roberto Bernardo, Acting Philippines Consul General.
Organizers also released dozens of doves in celebration of the special day.
