An Oahu grand jury indicted surfer Jill Hansen, 30, Tuesday on charges of attempted murder in the second degree, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and attempted auto theft.
The self-described pro surfer and model is accused of running down 73-year-old Elizabeth Conklin in the garage of her Waikiki apartment last Wednesday.
State public safety officials say Hansen tried to escape on Monday while being processed in the intake area at the Oahu Community Correctional Center. The OCCC staff immediately grabbed her.
In court documents released Monday, a maintenance man describes hearing an impact and then seeing Conklin partially wedged under a parked car. He said Hansen tried to reverse and hit Conklin again. Then man then shattered her rear window with a crowbar.
Bail is set at $1 million. Hansen will be arraigned in Circuit Court at a later date.
