Due to significant progress made overnight on the H1 Freeway Rehabilitation project the Hawaii Department of Transportation is updating its traffic advisory.
The planned full eastbound closure that was scheduled to begin at midnight Friday has been reduced to an eastbound partial closure from the vicinity of Likelike Highway to the vicinity of Ward Avenue.
Closure times remain the same, midnight Friday to at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, June 28. Please be advised that the following ramps will be closed:
· Liliha Street Onramp
· Pali Highway Onramp
· Pali Highway Offramp
· Punchbowl Street Offramp
· Kinau Street Offramp
All lanes and ramps will be reopened by 8 a.m., Saturday, June 28. All westbound lanes in the H1 Rehab project limits (Likelike Highway to Ward Avenue) will remain open.
The Saturday, June 28, midnight to Sunday 8 a.m. closure schedule is dependent on amount of work completed overnight and will be updated Saturday morning.
The DOT appreciates motorists' patience as it works to complete this $42 million federal aid project on time and on budget. The H1 Freeway Rehabilitation project is reconstructing one of the oldest and most congested sections of the H-1 Freeway through town.
In addition to pavement reconstruction and repaving, the project includes improved drainage, upgraded highway lighting, median glare screens, the widening of the Nuuanu Stream Bridge and Palama separation, and restriping to create four through lanes in each direction.
