A flash flood warning has been issued for the island of Oahu until 5:15 p.m. Sunday evening. This initial warning was issued Sunday afternoon.
The warning comes after very heavy rainfall has been reported. The advisory has been issued for the whole island, with the greatest threat of flash floods in Central Oahu around Waipahu and Pearl City.
A surface trough will produce light winds and humid conditions across the Oahu while a low aloft will bring heavy showers and thunderstorms from Kauai county to Maui county Sunday night.
Some of these thunderstorms may produce frequent lightning. The threat of thunderstorms and heavy showers will subside on Memorial Day as trade winds build over the islands.
The trades will focus showers over windward areas through the new work week.
