46-year-old Tracey Fergerstrom was found stabbed to death on Tuesday at a house in Spokane Washington.
The mother of three was a Kalaheo High School graduate who had recently moved to Spokane from Las Vegas.
Police say the man suspected of killing her is 37-year-old Jeremy Arnold. He was shot and killed by police after he showed up to the crime scene, allegedly with a gun.
Back here in the islands, family and friends are remembering Fergerstorm as a kind woman who loved to laugh.
"Her laugh and seeing her all the time and talking to her," said Kiana Fergerstrom, Tracey's daughter.
"[She] loved people, loved to talk to people. She always gave people the benefit of the doubt. You know she always found the good in everybody," said Sherrie Donohue, Tracey's friend.
The family has set up the Tracey Fergerstrom Memorial Fund to help pay for funeral expenses.
You can make a donation to any Bank of Hawaii branch.
Donohue says lots of folks may remember Tracey's warm smile from when she worked at the Safeway in Enchanted Lake.
Fergerstrom was not only a mother, but a grandmother as well.
